In the late spring of 2005, Shanti Carson and I met stark naked on the set of John Cameron Mitchell's movie Shortbus. About a month later I saw her perform with a flaming antlers at the Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and subsequently interviewed her on the roof of her nearby apartment. The flames partially melted the headpiece of the earphones, but they are still functional to this day.
