Sandi DuBowski is the producer and director of Trembling before G-d, a movie about Hasidic and Orthodox gays and lesbians that has screened all over the world and is now available on DVD. Prior to Trembling, Sandi made the award-winning short film Tomboychik. Most recently he produced A Jihad for Love , a film about Islam and homosexuality.

Sandi and I met in our late teens and have reunited regularly over the years, most memorably (however unsuccessfully) to campaign for John Kerry in Ohio in 2004. I interviewed him at the Bar Nothing in 2003 when he was fresh off a plane from Hong Kong and trembling from jetlag.
