Alexandra Beller
, artistic director of Alexandra Beller/Dances in New York, danced with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company from 1995 to 2001. Her choreography has graced the stages of the 92nd St. Y, Aaron Davis Hall, Danspace Project at St. Mark's, Joyce SoHo, P.S. 122, WAX, HERE, The Connelly Theater, SUNY Purchase College, The Frederick Loewe Theatre, and Jacob's Pillow. She contributed to John Turturro's film Romance and Cigarettes and was the collaborator and subject of "Dancer," a series of photographs by Irving Penn shown at the Whitney Museum in 2002 and around the world.

I first saw Alexandra dance at the Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in the summer of 2005, and subsequently interviewed her at her home in Manhattan. More about Alexandra at alexandrabellerdances.org.
